4th of July Party Decorations

Display Cards

I wanted to share with you a couple of display cards I made.  The first one is created using the Northwood's Bicycle Stamp.

It's a bit brighter than the photo shows.  I added extra dimension by punching extra flowers from our Flower Punches.   Plus I stamped the image twice, colored and snipped out the blue and red flowers and layered on the first image with clear dots.  Gems for flower centers and the Star Dust Gel Pen layered on the bike add even more dimension and fun.  Of course I had to have a polka dot seat.

The next card is the Hydrangea from Northwood's Stamps and I used the "Outline Technique".  I've been wanting to create a Copper or Silver card for ages and this stamp said "use me, use me".  Okay, it was actually Lynne.  So here it is…

We have some Copper Adhesive Dots at the store, I might have to add them to the card.  Maybe one in each corner… what do you think?

To create the card, I stamped the Hydrangea 4 times with Stazon Copper Inkpad.  I cut out all the full flowers from 3 of the images and layered them onto the first image with clear dots.  I add Copper Pearl Liquid Pearls for the flower centers.

Tip:  When I layer my flowers I will add extra clear dots to the same cutout flower to raise it higher than the some of the others I just added.  Just do it randomly, you'll love it.  You don't even have to match it to the flower underneath, it just gives it more depth like a real flower.

Carla's Flower Class

New (and last) magazine....

Sad to say that this is the last issue for this wonderful magazine. This issue has a really nice article on Instagram photos and all the things you can do with them. Instragram was the #1 downloaded app last year and if you haven't tried it you should--it's free! There are a couple layouts in here using Instagram pics + alot of other uses for them.

Leslie's Great Idea

Today we had Leslie in teaching techniques with the new Tim Holtz distress markers. These markers react with water just like his inks do so Leslie came up with a cheat sheet to refer to while she's coloring. She swiped a swatch of each color marker she had onto WATERCOLOR paper. Then she used a water brush to water them down to see how they react. She laminated her sheets to keep them protected and now she had her entire palette in front of her to refer to. Brilliant!!

Happy Summer frame

Here's a cute little frame that Christy put together with a line from Little Yellow Bicycle. The letters that spell out Happy Summer were cut from the AccuCut machine in our workshop. Remember you are free to use this anytime! Put together a happy little frame like this for every season:

Embellish Your Story

We've moved this whole line to the back of the store to it's own section. We spread it out so you could get a better feel on all the great products we have. These make the absolute best gifts -- especially for any upcoming weddings you may be attending this Spring! Everything is magnetic so it's easy to change the look of each piece with the seasons.
