We have a fabulous new book in from Autumn Leaves: The Designing with Recipe Book.
It has nothing to do with food despite the title! It is idea book filled with sketches you can use to help you design your layouts. Chapter One has sketches using only one photo, Chapter Two has sketches using two photos, and so on---you get the idea. Sketches are a great tool because they give you a jumping off point to get you started--you know how sometimes you've got the pictures, you've got the paper, but you just can't seem to put it all together!?!? This book is filled with some truly beautiful layouts.

A quote for today
This is a quote from Stacey Julian's (Stacey is the Editor-in-Chief of Simple Scrapbook magazine) new book and I just wanted to post it here because it says it all:
You see, the term scrapbooking does not just refer to the assembly of pages. Scrapbooking actually describes an ongoing, multi-dimensional spectrum of activities that begins with an awareness of your life, followed by a desire to photograph and record your day-to-day experiences, ultimately resulting in scrapbook albums that are overflowing with perspective-laden layouts, each of which contributes in some small way to the story of your life and heritage.
I love that!

More new Valentine Paper

Lasting Impressions
Just another plug for one of my favorite techniques---dry embossing. These are a couple cards I made with our Valentine templates. After the image is embossed, you just sand off a little of the paper, and you get this look. You should try it! We have more examples of this in the store and don't forget our class coming up on this exact technique.
Daisy Bucket Designs
We've got a new line of paper in from a company called Daisy Bucket Designs. This is a company new to Scrapadoodle. This line is called "Love You" and is just sooo pretty. You really have to feel this paper--it has a really cool texture to it. In doing a little search on the internet I found this absolutely beautiful layout done with this line.

Just a little change in class schedule.......
We've switched up Linda's Framed House class just a bit. Instead of 2 nights, we're doing it all in one night January 22 from 5-8 p.m. If you missed the pictures of this class, scroll down a bit to my post from January 3rd to see this fabulous piece.
A reminder about classes in general as well:
Students in our classes receive 10% off their entire purchase the day or night of their class.
Now you know that's tempting.........a completed project and a discount :-)

What Retreat Weekend Looks like at Scrapadoodle
The store was alive this weekend as we hosted another successful retreat. Leslie was on hand giving a demo on the Cricut and Melissa did a great job as our host, keeping everyone fed, giving away prizes and making sure things ran smoothly. If you haven't been to one of our retreats, try not to miss the next one. It's such a great atmosphere seeing so much creativity going on and sharing a whole lot of scrapbook talent. We thank everyone who came!

Many of you know about our fabulous page kits--because we sell these like crazy! Here's a sneak peek of one that is coming soon---I love the 'V' made of buttons! Quantities are always limited on these kits so check the board right as you come in the door of the store for this weeks page kit.
