Embedded Embossing Tutorial

I wanted to share with you a card I made as a sample for the store.  It has a bit of Embedded Embossing on it and I wanted share how its done.  Its so easy and add so much.

Embedded Embossing, Neopolitan Papers, Monarch Punch, 6 Petal Flower Punch, Scrapadoodle, Carla's Scraps (2)

Doesn't it look cool?  First decide the decorative paper and cardstock you want to use and then cut your layers to size.  My red cardstock is about a 1/4 of an inch bigger than the decorative paper all the way around.

With just a touch of double sided adhesive in all four corners adhere the two pieces together.  Line up your layered paper in your embossing folder and run it thru the Big Shot

Here's an Embedded Embossing picture tutorial…

  • I've cut my red cardstock and decorative paper to the size I need for another card.

  • With just a touch of double sided adhesive in each corner, see photo above… you don't want much adhesive as the papers will shrink just a tad when you emboss.
  • You also want an embossing folder where the design is closely spaced together, not like polka dots or something where the design is spread to far apart.  It's the closeness of the design and the embossing that holds the layers together.

  • Line up your piece inside your embossing folder and run it thru your Big Shot.

  • Now decorate away… its so fun and adds a bit of variety to your cards and layouts.  I hope you enjoy Embedded Embossing as much as I do.Embedded Embossing, Neopolitan Papers, Monarch Punch, 6 Petal Flower Punch, Scrapadoodle, Carla's Scraps (2)

Leaves for Spring

Here's a cute, yet simple Masculine card I created using Memory Box Fall Leaf Trio Stamp and DieSpring card, Spring leaves, Memory Box Leaf Trio Stamp, Memory Box Leaf Trio Die, Scrapadoodle, Carla's Scraps (1)

I used the Memory Box Leaf Trio Die as a background layer for my image, adding a touch of yellow to brighten the card.

You could easily add a cute sheer navy bow and some yellow gems for a pretty Spring card.   Speaking of ribbon, be sure to check out the new Ribbons we have in stock.  Gorgeous colors in sheer, pleats, lace, crochet and seam binding.

I used a sheet of the new Authentique line of papers, Natural.  Stop in and see it on display.  Circle punches were EK Success 1 1/4" and the 1".

I hope you enjoy!

Spring Fling and Easter Things

I wanted to share a couple samples made using Bella Blvd's, Spring Fling and Easter Things papers.
This new line of Spring papers is bright, cheerful and so fun.  I snipped out 2 bunnies from the paper and layered with Pop Dots.

The cards are cut with the new Lifestyle Crafts Cutting Dies and the Big Shot.  These are wonderful dies
and cut like butter!  I did use a thin shim to cut through the double layer of the card.  Came out perfectly.

Valentine's Day Dress Form

Carrie and I have been long time fans of the Tim Holtz Sizzix dress form die. So I decided to revisit this cool die for the upcoming holiday:
I cut the dress form out of plain black cardstock and then embossed with an embossing folder it to give it some texture, then added a tulle skirt and a bit of ribbon for the sash.

The red hearts are a Hero Arts stamp that I heat embossed with black embossing powder and then just cut around the image.

This card will fit in a regular #10 business size envelope. I like that size because:
#10's are easy to find,
they require no extra postage, and they give you more room to play with!
